End of Evangelion – Spoilers!
Yesterday I watched End of Eva with 2 of my friends \o/
However now I am slightly concerned, why the fuck do I relate to Shinji, that guy is a good for nothing child with mind demons he doesn’t even understand. I do feel like he grew at the end but I kind of feel disgusting having realized that I relate to THAT guy out of everyone.
I guess I do partake in my fair share of running away and realizing that I mustn’t at times… whatever…
I gotta say though, starting off the movie with the scene of Shinji having jerked off to Asuka’s body was definitely A choice, I don’t really get what it was supposed to show, every idea I have just makes no sense but I guess Asuka did end up helping him xD. Shinji’s face after she turned over was like Awooga I was dying LOL.
One gripe I had with Shinji in that scene is when it pans over to the door being locked, did he do that? He must’ve because you wouldn’t be able to get in then… Did he do it as he came in or after having done that to Asuka?? if it’s the latter… How disgusting.
Another gripe I had was with the whole Spear of Longinus fiasco, where the fuck did the second one come from? I thought the second one must’ve been Lilith’s spear since it was missing and Adam’s was on the moon. Apparently this isn’t the case. I think I’m confusing myself because rewatching it I guess it is Adam’s spear that Unit 01 takes unto herself to start the instrumentality and the other spears present are replicas which are just used in conjunction with the 9 mass produced Evas to form the tree of life. Confusion solved? :P

I did think it was a little incredulous that Asuka managed to “defeat” 9 of the fakey Evas within 3 and a half minutes. Shes definitely good at what she does but that’s not alot of time… especially when she wastes time doing flashy shit, which I guess is in her nature to do.
Although someone probably should’ve informed her that they all have their own S2 engines because everything she did was futile, I don’t know if you can destroy S2 engines besides them fucking self destructing like the previous angels did besides the one that merged with Unit-01 when it went berserk.
People meme about this scene alot but in context with the preceding few seconds it is very striking and powerful. I can sort of feel what Shinji is feeling in that moment. It is ashame that it became a meme.. Imagine seeing your friend absolutely mauled by vultures that are still flying overhead circling what’s left of her torn up body. Such a disgusting thing to have to witness. I feel sympathetic for him.
This was a point I had strong feelings about, during the previous Introspection moments where it was revealed that all Rei wants is to die because she feels she has no purpose (this is my interpretation) finally rebelling against Gendo and doing what SHE wants instead of what he wants made this a very enjoyable moment for me. It’s ashame how she came to be but it doesn’t have to define her.
The hard cut to “Welcome home” when Rei says I’m home was chills inducing holy.
I wonder how it feels to be touched by a God, poor Maya.

Anyway I rated it a 10/10 on my MAL, my favorite part was when the JSSDF came in and shot the place up. Mostly because it showed off alot of the compound, my favorite part of old animes is all of the unique ways they choose to draw things. Find me a geofront in 2026, bet you it doesn’t exist.
This is a scene that to my knowledge does not exist anywhere else except maybe Elfen Leid. The girl pulling her comrade to safety to end up getting shot was brutal..
All in all, I really liked this movie and I think Hideaki Anno is a genius and deserves 9 trillion awards!!!! Soon, very soon I will own all of Eva on physical media I swear it!!!!
